This page serves as a library of teaching resources that I have used during my career. Please feel free to share with teachers, parents, or caregivers who you think may benefit from these resources.
YouTube channels:
Paris Sigler – yours truly has a channel dedicated to preschool-friendly content. I primarily post videos of myself reading stories from my personal collection, my classroom, or my local library.
Jack Hartmann – for Kindergarten students. An extensive library of videos addressing math and alphabet concepts, as well as many “brain breaks” focused on movement.
Cosmic Kids Yoga – guided yoga adventures with animated graphics. The instructor narrates an exploration and guides children through related movements at a pace that is engaging for young children.
Weather activities:
Weather Wiz Kids – designed by a meteorologist, includes in-depth information about weather phenomena, natural disasters, and local weather reports. Also includes pictures and weather-based experiments.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac for Kids – check local weather data including the time for sunrise/sunset, learn a weather word of the week, find out the weather on the day you were born, and complete weather related puzzles.
University of Illinois Tree House – details different types of weather, air pressures, winds, and types of clouds. Interactive games including a cloud identification game.
Weather for Kids – focuses on facts about different types of weather. Includes a list of live weather cameras listed by state. Worksheets and quizzes also available.
University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), Web Weather for Kids – facts about different kinds of weather and inclement weather, with a section dedicated to safety during different types of weather.
Freddy the Frogcaster – home of the book by the same name by author Janice Dean. The site features an activities page that can teach children how to watch for inclement weather, measure rainfall, and more.
Movement and games:
Indoor games – part one, good for small groups, can be adapted for classroom use.
Indoor games – part two, can be adapted for classroom use, contains more academically-themed games.
Go Noodle – well-established site with videos for movement, songs, games, and academic subjects. Wide variety of characters and approaches. Basically exercise videos for kids! Good for when children have high energy that needs to be released. Relatively self-directed. Songs can be learned and adapted for use without videos.
Tai Chi for Kids – check out this guide to tai chi for kids! Tai chi helps keep our minds and hearts healthy as well as our bodies. Big shout out to Lyndhurst Girl Scout Troop 44 for sharing this resource.
Art and coloring:
Crayola coloring pages – browse by subject (animals, seasons, etc), or search for specific pages. I recommend coloring sheets as supplemental choice work when studying a topic in class.
